DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICS
Pharmaceutics is a science of dosage form design which embraces all facets of converting therapeutics into dosage forms. It involves the quantitative aspects of drug delivery that concerns design, development and evaluation of drugs either alone or in combination. Our department of Pharmaceutics provides knowledge of excellence in pharmaceutics for serving public health through safe, and effective pharmaceutical formulations. We impart pharmaceutical skills for pilot plant and scale-up techniques to the students. We prepare the students for research in the development and testing of drug products and to collaborate with pharmaceutical industry partners for research.
Our department of Pharmaceutics is well equipped for teaching and research activities for formulation development and new technological manufacturing in novel drug delivery. We offer Master and Doctoral degree programme. The Master Degree Programme (M.Pharm) in Pharmaceutics was started in the year of 2002. Currently, it is privileged with the intake of 15 seats. It engages with the design and fabrication of synthetic analogues, plant based therapeutics, and/or biologicals using novel carriers such as liposomes, niosomes, and phytosomes for enhancement of drug’s bioavailability.
The Doctoral Degree Programme (Ph.D) was started in the year of 2008. It focuses to promote therapeutics through inclusive teaching and transformative research in advanced nanotechnology based polymeric drug delivery and their surface modification for targeting drugs to the desired sites. It intends to design and analyse drug delivery systems, including investigation of molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms for interpreting absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and pharmacologic effects of drug molecules.
We integrate knowledge in regulatory affairs as a key role from product development to commercialization and focus high-quality research on translational aspects of advanced drug delivery systems. We aim to provide students with the innovative knowledge and skills necessary to pursue positions in academia, pharmaceutical industries, and R&D (Research and Development) sectors. Furthermore, constantly upgrading our quality of education and research to meet the advanced demands of professionals in the field. Our department of Pharmaceutics published nearly 97 research papers in peerreviewed National and International journals.
