Pharmacology
Pharmacology includes all knowledge pertaining to drugs and their actions.Experimental pharmacology is a biological science, and as such is related to general biology, especially the subjects of anatomy, physiology, pathology and Biochemistry. The relation to biology is evident, since pharmacology is a study of the reactions of living material to changes in environment. These changes in environment are usually produced by drugs.Specialization in pharmacology department was established in the year 2007 and offers training in pharmacology and toxicology to graduates may subsequently well trained in research, regulatory trials and academic careers. The department is well equipped with sophisticated a instrument which explores the graduates towards to learn in-vivo and in-vitro actions of drugs. The laboratory is a fully functional lab equipped with modern instruments.
Pharmacology department was registered with CPCSEA and the facility is in accord with the needs of ethical guidelines taking into account the environmental and biosafety level.Pharmacology is one of the ever growing branches of medical sciences.Pharmacology has its roots in therapeutics, where the aim is to ameliorate the effects of disease, so we have attempted to make the link between effects at the molecular/cellular level and the range of beneficial and adverse effects that humans experience when drugs are used for therapeutic or other reasons. Pharmacology is a lively scientific discipline in its own right, with an importance beyond that of providing a basis for the use of drugs in therapy.M.Pharm Pharmacology is the course proposed to provide a comprehensive exposure to the graduates focusing on the drug effects in clinical and pre-clinical stages in drug discovery process. Pharmacologist serves in clinical trials as well as in biological drug screening. The students in the department were motivated and make them to develop their skill to fit in the areas such as pharma market research, drug developmental and research, clinical trial, regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance.
